The 2017 Gran Selezione is 100% Sangiovese from the estate’s best, high‑sited vineyards, dark ruby in colour with explosive aromatics of small ripe berries, rose petals, lavender and thyme, plus earth, dried herbs and subtle blood‑ and nut‑like notes. On the palate it is warm and full, with herbed, slightly austere red‑cherry fruit, marked acidity, firm, present tannins, salty and “tomato‑skin” savoury nuances, and a very long, tight, mineral finish that still needs time to fully unfurl.

This Montefili Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2017 is best matched with bistecca, grilled lamb, game, slow‑cooked ragù, aged Pecorino and other hearty Tuscan dishes, and will easily reward mid‑ to long‑term cellaring.
