Tempranillo Rosé Wine

Tempranillo rosé is really carving out a niche for Australians who want a rosé that’s a bit more grown-up and savoury than the usual fruit-forward crowd-pleasers. Unlike the familiar Shiraz or Cabernet rosés, Tempranillo offers fresh, dry wines with lifted aromas of cherry blossom, strawberry, and subtle floral notes, often carrying a touch of licorice or Turkish delight on the palate. It’s fermented dry, so you won’t find any cloying sweetness here, just bright red fruit flavours balanced with a zesty, crisp finish that invites another sip.

Australian producers from Margaret River to Geographe are showcasing how well Tempranillo thrives locally, delivering wines with fresh acidity, texture, and a delicate mineral edge. This rosé is perfect for easy summer drinking, whether you’re grabbing a casual pizza, firing up the barbie with some spicy grilled chicken, or enjoying light, tomato-based pasta dishes. If you’re after a rosé with structure and savoury depth, Tempranillo is definitely worth exploring beyond the usual suspects, it’s got the freshness you want without sacrificing complexity.
