Brookland Valley Reserve Chardonnay 2023 from Margaret River is a serious, high‑class chardy – pale straw in the glass yet absolutely loaded with flavour and tension from old‑vine Gingin clone fruit in Wilyabrup. It sits firmly in that “top of the tree” reserve category, built for immediate impact and confident cellaring.

The nose is intensely aromatic: pink grapefruit, lemon and nectarine, nashi pear, nougat and roasted hazelnut, with brioche, gunflint, struck match and beautifully judged toasty oak in support. The palate is lavish and powerful, packed with ripe yellow fruits, grapefruit, lemon and ginger spice, creamy lees, hazelnut oak and flinty minerality riding on fine, driving acidity and prodigious length.

This Brookland Valley Reserve Chardonnay 2023 is superb with roast chicken and jus, buttery crayfish or marron, rich seafood pasta or grilled fish in lemon–butter, where that citrus–nut–oak interplay really sings. It’s equally at home with roast pork, creamy mushroom dishes or soft, rich cheeses, and has the structure to evolve gracefully into the mid‑2030s.
