About this product
The Story Wines Whitlands Riesling 2021 from the high, windswept Whitlands Plateau in north‑east Victoria is a scintillating, cool‑climate Riesling with serious line, purity and aging potential. It’s a tightly coiled, acid‑driven style that still manages to feel graceful and finely weighted. This Whitlands Riesling 2021 shows all the hallmarks of a long, cool season and meticulous handling.
In the glass, expect a burst of lemon and lime, kaffir‑lime leaf, green apple and chalky mineral notes, with hints of quinine and white florals adding complexity. The palate is racy, with high natural acidity balanced by a touch of residual sugar, giving a deceptively gentle, off‑dry entry that quickly tightens into a long, chalky, saline finish. Think citrus zest, pith and crushed stones wrapped around a precise, linear core.
On the table, it’s brilliant with fresh oysters, kingfish crudo, prawn and green‑papaya salad, Thai or Vietnamese dishes with lime and herbs, or classic fish and chips. The Story Wines Whitlands Riesling 2021 will also handle lightly spiced curries, pork schnitzel, or a goat’s cheese and citrus‑accented salad with ease, and it will reward cellaring for extra toast and honey complexity over time. Serve it nicely chilled to let that electric acidity and mineral drive really sing.
