Express Winemakers Trappers Gully Chenin Blanc 2023 comes from the organically farmed Trappers Gully vineyard in Mount Barker, Great Southern, Western Australia. This vineyard was established in 1996 with granitic sands over ironstone soils at an elevation of around 200 meters. The Chenin Blanc is known for being transparent and expressive, fermented wild on full solids in old oak barriques and puncheons. The 2023 vintage is richer than some previous years, with luscious stone fruit, melon, honey notes, and oyster shell minerality, beautifully showcasing the long growing season and terroir of the Great Southern region. The wine follows minimal intervention principles with spontaneous fermentation and no fining or filtration, resulting in a textured, complex expression of Chenin Blanc.
