Darlington Vineyard
The vines at Darlington were planted during the early years of the 1990’s. There are now about 5000 vines of four varieties: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc. These 30 year old vines are now mature and produce between 7 and 10 tonnes of fruit per year.
The seaside town of Orford is a 1 hour and 15 minute drive north east of Hobart along the Tasman Highway. The town sits under the Thumbs Mountains on Tasmania’s Freycinet Coast. Darlington Vineyard is a stone’s throw from the sheltered waters of Prosser Bay.
Visitors come to the Orford region for access to Maria Island, as well as great sheltered beaches, Wielangta State Forest and good fishing. Orford has a population of only 500 permanent residents. However, during the Tasmanian summer holidays the population increases threefold, transforming the small town into a bustling tourist hub.
