Hamlets Shiraz is a blend from different sub regions or “Hamlets” from where we grow and buy grapes from across the Barossa Valley.
Hamlets Shiraz is made in a complex but juicy style that is true to our house style but extremely easy to drink though complex enough to be able to cellar for many years of future enjoyment. Predominantly from three vineyards all planted in the 1950’s in the Hamlets of Vine Vale, Nuriootpa and Ebenezer and then “topped up” with declassified barrels from the CWCo Shiraz blend that didn’t make that blend.
No new oak, only seasoned barrels of USA and French, made in a juicy but complex style. Will benefit from cellaring but why bother when it tastes so delicious straight out of the gate!
92 points Halliday Wine Companion 2025 – A shiraz sourced across a number of Barossan hamlets: Marananga, Stone Well, Gomersal, Greenock and Vine Vale. Deep crimson with aromas of blackberry, satsuma plum and dark cherry with hints of licorice, dark spice, hanging meats, ironstone, olive tapenade, dark chocolate and earth. Full bodied with a crème de cassis flow, billowing tannins and some nice sprightly acidity pulling thing along.
91 points The Wine Front – Coal, roasted plums, saltbush and smidgens of rust and dark chocolate. It’s free-flowing and flavoursome, the fruit rushing up to greet you and putting on a good show throughout. There’s a minty aspect to the finish, which helps lift and carry the finish onwards. Everything’s in good order here. Campbell Mattinson
