Bleasdale The Wise One Tawny NV, from Bleasdale Vineyards in Langhorne Creek, South Australia, is an artful fortified blend of Grenache, Shiraz, Verdelho, Mataro and Tinta Roriz, matured at least 7 years in small oak casks. In the glass it shows a rich mahogany-amber colour, with aromas of dried apricot, fig, sweet date, toffee and a warm nutty undertone. The palate is full-bodied and lush: baked walnut, molasses, roasted brown sugar, and vanillin oak combine with just enough acidity to keep it from being cloying. Finish is long, velvety and inviting. Critics have awarded it 90 points in the Halliday Wine Companion, and a Gold medal at the 2022 Korea Wine Challenge.
