Dicey Bannockburn Pinot Noir 2022 from Dicey Wines in Central Otago’s Bannockburn sub‑region is a seriously classy Kiwi pinot – equal parts power and poise, with that trademark Bannockburn savoury spice and schist‑driven structure. This 2022 Dicey Bannockburn Pinot Noir blends 64% Inlet and 36% Black Rabbit vineyards, giving lifted red cherry, raspberry and strawberry alongside dark plum, rhubarb, violet, dried herbs and smoky wood.

The palate is rich, supple and spicy yet beautifully precise – dark cherry, raspberry and rhubarb roll through with anise, bramble, forest floor and sage/thyme complexity. Silky tannins, fresh acidity and fine French oak (11 months, ~27% new) deliver a long, moreish finish, with mineral, dry, textured feel and plenty of fruit tension for 5–8 years in the cellar.

I’d be pouring this with roast duck, lamb rump, venison, or herb‑crusted pork, plus mushroom risotto, chargrilled veg and aged hard cheeses. It’s a cracking Central Otago pinot noir for serious Burgundy fans, offering dark, savoury complexity without losing drinkability or finesse.
