Dicey Bannockburn Chardonnay 2021 from Central Otago is a seriously classy cool‑climate chardy, weaving ripe stone fruit and citrus together with a savoury, flinty edge that feels very true to Bannockburn’s schist‑rich soils. Aromas of stone fruit, pear, yellow blossom and citrus are layered with brioche, nuts and a touch of struck match from quality French oak and lees work. The palate is medium‑bodied, rich yet driven, with vibrant acidity and a long, refined finish.
In the glass you’ll find flavours of white peach, nectarine, tinned pear and mandarin skin, wrapped around dried honey, nougat, roasted almonds and hints of brioche. There’s real tension here: generous fruit and subtle creaminess balanced by a cleansing citrus line that keeps everything focused. It’s drinking beautifully now but has the structure to evolve over 5–8 years, gaining more honeyed, nutty complexity.
On the table, match Dicey Bannockburn Chardonnay 2021 with roast chicken, pork loin with crackling, rich seafood dishes, scallops, miso‑glazed salmon or mushroom and parmesan risotto. It’s also spot‑on with roast pumpkin salads, semi‑hard cheeses and a good cheese board, making it a versatile bottle for both proper dinners and relaxed grazing.
