Ben Murray Marananga Mataro 2023 (6 Bottles) Barossa Valley, SA
About this product
Ben Murray Marananga Mataro 2023 from Ben Murray Wines in the western Barossa sub‑region of Marananga is a savoury, character‑packed red that leans into the variety’s wild, spicy side while still feeling polished and modern. This Ben Murray Marananga Mataro 2023 is one for drinkers who like their Barossa reds a bit meaty, earthy and distinctive.
You can expect dark, brooding fruit at its core – think black plum and blackberry – wrapped in layers of earth, dried herb, game, warm spice and a ferrous, ironstone edge that clearly speaks of Marananga’s deep, rich soils. The palate should be medium‑to‑full bodied and savoury, with a spicy dark‑fruit core, fine natural tannins and well‑judged oak, finishing long, dry and moreish with that classic Mataro grip.
This Marananga Mataro is terrific with slow‑cooked lamb shoulder, smokey BBQ ribs, chorizo and bean stew, grilled sausages or a roast vegetable and olive tray bake. It will also work a treat with hard cheeses and charcuterie, and like the rest of the Marananga range, it has the structure to develop nicely in bottle over the better part of a decade.
