Yarra Yering Dry Red Wine No. 2 2022, made by Sarah Crowe in the Yarra Valley, is a commanding Shiraz-led blend (96% Shiraz, with Marsanne, Mataro & Viognier) from vines planted in 1969 through the 1990s. Deep crimson in colour, it unfolds with a bouquet of violets, plum and cranberry, layered with hints of five-spice, cigar box and bramble. The palate shows dark red and black fruits, graphite and iodine notes, underpinned by firm, finely-woven tannins and elegant oak (25% new oak over 15 months). Awarded 99 points and named Red Wine of the Year in the 2025 Halliday Wine Companion. Supremely balanced, it will age gracefully for 15–20 years.
