Yarra Yering Light Dry Red Pinot Shiraz 2023, crafted by Sarah Crowe in the cool-climate Yarra Valley, is a beguiling blend of 50% Pinot Noir (vines planted 1981) and 50% Shiraz (Waterloo block, 1995). It opens with aromas of rose petal, blue violet and summer pudding of mixed berries. On the palate it is delicately plush and fragrant, with a light touch enhanced by stalk-fermentation – adding a faint smoky grip – balanced by fine tannins and a driving finish. Scored 96 points by Halliday Wine Companion, it is delicious now and promises refinement over 3-5 years.
