The Montalto Single Vineyard “Tuerong” Pinot Noir 2023/24, crafted by Simon Black in Mornington Peninsula’s Tuerong sub-region, is a fine example of cool-climate finesse. Rose petal, wild strawberry and red cherry aromas mingle with subtle forest floor and clove spice. The palate is elegantly structured, delivering juicy cranberry and raspberry, framed by delicate fine tannins and bright acidity, with a seam of flinty minerality that echoes the Mornington terroir. Though formal scores are not yet published, earlier vintages (e.g. 2022) were lauded with 96 pts by QWine. Certainly a Pinot to watch and enjoy.
