Zaccagnini "Chronicon" Montepulciano d’Abruzzo
Zaccagnini “Chronicon” Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2022 (6 Bottles) Abruzzo, Italy
About this product
Zaccagnini “Chronicon” Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2022 from the Casauria Valley in Abruzzo is a deeper, more structured expression of Montepulciano with serious colour, intensity and a proper sense of place. This Zaccagnini Chronicon Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2022 is 100% Montepulciano, moderately late‑harvested and given submerged‑cap maceration, then aged between steel and wood before bottle time for extra complexity.
The nose is intense and refined, with violet, tart cherry and dark berry fruit, lifted by balsamic notes, white pepper, vanilla and hints of underbrush. The palate is full‑bodied and bold yet harmonious, showing concentrated cherry and dark fruits, fine‑grained tannins, savoury spice and a long, robust finish that feels both structured and beautifully balanced. It is very much a “Sunday roast” Montepulciano rather than just a simple pasta red.
This is made for rich meat dishes – think beef and venison, slow‑cooked ragù, braised beef shin, osso buco, game casseroles and hard, aged cheeses. It also shines with deeply flavoured risotto, truffle‑inflected dishes and chargrilled lamb where its tannin and spice have something savoury to wrestle with.
