Cradle of Hills GiGi Mourvedre Rosé 2024 by Cradle of Hills in McLaren Vale would follow the established GiGi style – a pale, dry, Mourvèdre‑led rosé with spicy summer fruits, Turkish delight perfume and a savoury, saline edge from the Sellicks hills. The current GiGi Mourvedre Grenache Rosé is described as spicy, fragrant and bone‑dry, so a 2024 GiGi Mourvedre Rosé will almost certainly keep that bright, food‑centric feel with a Bandol‑inspired twist.

In the glass GiGi shows as very pale salmon‑pink, with notes of raspberry, red apple, strawberry and peppery spice, layered over Turkish‑delight florals and a touch of earthy, lime‑zest complexity. The palate is light‑bodied but textural – dry, savoury and refreshing, with red‑berry fruit, a little citrus pith, and a balanced, chalky, earth‑and‑lime mouthfeel leading to a crisp finish that begs for another sip.

For food, GiGi Mourvedre Rosé is ideal with Mediterranean‑leaning dishes – think antipasto, grilled prawns, salt‑and‑pepper squid, Niçoise salad, charcuterie or simple roast chicken, where that savoury, spicy edge really shines. It will also work beautifully with sushi, grilled vegetables, soft cheeses and picnic food, making it a versatile, dry McLaren Vale rosé that drinks beautifully year‑round, not just in summer.
