This rare 777 clone Saint and Scholar Masters Series Pinot Noir 2022 from Gumeracha in the Adelaide Hills is nothing short of exceptional, with only 1700 bottles produced from the estate’s elevated single vineyard sitting 421 metres above sea level. Hand harvested and whole bunch fermented with careful foot stomping, this Pinot spent 15 days on skins before 16 months in French oak barriques, creating a beautifully crafted wine rated 90 points by James Halliday’s Mike Bennie. Crimson and scarlet with pink hues, it showcases the exceptional 2022 vintage following one of Adelaide Hills’ best ever in 2021.

Black cherries and plum aromas surge forward with seductive hints of nutmeg, cardamom and clove creating an intoxicating bouquet that evolves in the glass. The medium-bodied palate fills with black fruit and plum before finishing with luscious flavours of dark chocolate, mocha and Chinese five spice on an elegant, lingering finish. Around 60% whole bunches in the ferment create a rich, round and soft Masters Pinot Noir that shows raspberry complexity alongside those darker fruit characters.
