Terra Sancta Shingle Beach Pinot Noir
Terra Sancta Shingle Beach Pinot Noir 2022 (12 Bottles) Bannockburn, New Zealand
About this product
Ripe strawberry, citrus skin and rose stem aromas leap from this Terra Sancta Shingle Beach Pinot Noir 2022, an ethereal single-block expression from vines planted on limestone and schist soils right on the edge of the Kawarau River at Bannockburn. Wild fermented in large oak barrels with minimal intervention, this close-planted block delivers red berry brightness and fine-grained tannins that showcase the singular characteristics of its magnificent site. Rated 96 points by James Suckling, this is Pinot winemaking with restraint and elegance.
The palate layers complex flavours of brambles, plum and redcurrant alongside spices including star anise and licorice, while stony minerality and earthy notes add depth. Medium to full-bodied with a creamy texture and juicy finish, cinnamon and nutmeg nuances weave through creating smooth elegance. This Shingle Beach Pinot drinks beautifully now yet will cellar until 2033, developing further complexity with age.
Herb-crusted lamb rack, duck confit or wild mushroom tart pair perfectly where the fine-grained tannins and earthy minerality complement rich, savoury proteins. Try it with beetroot and goat’s cheese salad, roasted game birds or aged hard cheeses – the wine’s ethereal nature elevates refined preparations beautifully.
