Smallfry Fantome Shiraz 2023 (6 Bottles) Barossa Valley, SA
About this product
Smallfry Fantome Shiraz 2023 by Smallfry Wines in the Barossa is Shiraz, but not as you usually see it – a light, chillable, biodynamic “ghost” red that drifts across the palate at just 12% alcohol. Early harvest and only two days on skins make this Fantome Shiraz bright, crunchy and wildly drinkable rather than big and heavy.
Colour is bright crimson, and the nose is packed with red forest fruits – cranberry, raspberry and strawberry, plus a little pomegranate in the mix. The palate starts fruity then finishes with snappy, crunchy acidity, carrying bags of juicy red fruit over a very light, fresh frame, with minimal sulphites, wild‑yeast ferment and a lo‑fi, unfined, unfiltered approach. It’s technically 100% Shiraz, but stylistically closer to a vibrant, natural light red you’d happily chill right down.
Serve Fantome Shiraz 2023 cool out of the fridge with charcuterie, pizza, grilled sausages, burgers or roast chook, where those cranberry and strawberry notes really shine. It’s also spot‑on with Mediterranean salads, antipasto and picnic fare – a modern Barossa Shiraz that’s all about freshness, fruit and fun.
