Pepper Tree Alternate Series Malbec 2023 is crafted by winemaker Gwyn Olsen from the Wrattonbully region, South Australia. It greets with dark, inky hues and aromas of black plum, dark blue fruits and a whisper of violet. On the palate the fruit core is rich and ripe, showing red plum and cassis, supported by graphite-like tannins and layers of schist minerality. Bright acidity cuts through, giving it energy and finishing clean. At ~14.5% ABV, it’s medium to full-bodied with a structure that could handle short-term aging. No significant awards or critic scores are currently published, but it offers excellent value among the Alternate Series.
