Otherness Skuld Riesling

Otherness Skuld Riesling 2024 from Eden Valley, crafted in collaboration with winemaker Ian Hongell, is a tightly coiled, cool‑climate Riesling that emphasizes precision, poise and mineral drive over showy upfront fruit.

In the glass, Skuld Riesling shows floral citrus – orange blossom and bruised lime leaf – with layers of lime, lemongrass, lemon zest, grapefruit pith and hints of pomelo, all carried on a talcy, stony mineral undercurrent typical of high‑grown Eden Valley fruit. The palate is dry and fine‑boned, with lacy, electric acidity and chalky texture that give a sense of tension and structure, built to unfurl slowly and gain flavour complexity over many years.

As an Adelaide‑based sommelier, I’d pour Otherness Skuld Riesling with freshly shucked oysters, kingfish crudo or lemon‑herb grilled whiting, letting that citrus and mineral spine slice cleanly through. It’s also superb alongside Thai or Vietnamese salads, goat’s cheese and light sashimi – a narrative‑driven Eden Valley Riesling for drinkers who love detail and cool‑climate clarity.
