Merricks Estate Pinot Noir 2021 is a classic Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir: fragrant, finely structured and immediately appealing, but with enough savoury depth to keep it interesting. It shows bright red fruit, gentle earthiness and a soft, supple finish.

The core profile is bright cherry, ripe raspberry and savory macerated red fruits, with forest floor, earthy notes and a touch of spicy oak. The tannins are supple rather than firm, and fresh acidity keeps the wine lively and balanced through the finish.

This is a natural partner for duck, roast chicken, mushroom dishes, pork, charcuterie and soft cheeses. It suits the style of wine that is best enjoyed for its perfume and texture now, while still having enough structure to develop a little more complexity over time.
