Mada ‘Oak Hill’ Riesling 2024 from the Oak Hill vineyard in Gundaroo, NSW is a finely etched cool‑climate Riesling that’s all precision, florals and mineral drive – very much in the pure, acid‑driven Mada house style. The site, planted in 1994 on shale with quartz fragments, gives lifted aromas of pure white flowers, crushed alpine rocks and lemon pith rather than overt fruit salad, setting this up as a seriously focused Riesling.
On the palate it is light to medium‑bodied and very dry, with a tight line of citrus – lemon, lime skin and pith – running over a bed of wet stone and subtle green‑apple crunch. High, racy acidity and a fine, chalky texture stretch the wine out, giving a long, mouth‑watering finish that feels mouth‑coating yet ultra‑refreshing at the same time. It’s the kind of Riesling that loves a bit of air and will reward time in bottle.
Food‑wise, Mada Oak Hill Riesling 2024 is ideal with oysters, prawns, sashimi, Thai or Vietnamese dishes, salt‑and‑pepper squid, fresh goat’s cheese salads or simple grilled fish with lemon, where its citrus, florals and mineral cut really shine. It’s also an excellent aperitif for those who enjoy their Riesling lean, stony and precise rather than rounded or off‑dry.
