Grant Burge Abednego Mourvèdre Grenache Shiraz 2021 is a serious Barossa icon – deep purple in the glass, perfumed yet brooding, and only made in standout vintages where the fruit really sings. This 2021 Abednego MGS is medium to full‑bodied with a dry, savoury spine, showcasing just how refined Barossa can be at the top end.

A lush, sweet‑fruited cherry entry leads into layers of bright raspberry, red currant and dark berry fruit, wrapped in milk chocolate, hazelnut, vanilla and subtle earthy spice. Mourvèdre brings dry, lifted red fruits and savoury, dusty earth; Grenache adds spice and brightness, while Shiraz contributes mid‑palate weight, power and fine, long tannins. The result is complex, plush and beautifully poised, with a long, persistent finish that promises a decade or more of development.

This Grant Burge Abednego 2021 is tailor‑made for rich, slow‑cooked dishes – think lamb shoulder, rib‑eye on the bone, venison, game birds or a deeply flavoured mushroom and lentil braise. It also shines with hard cheeses and hearty winter stews, and is best served around 16–18 °C after a good decant to let all those layers of fruit, spice and earth unwind in the glass.
