Domaine Naturaliste Purus Chardonnay 2024 from Bruce Dukes in Margaret River is a seriously sleek, Burgundian‑mould Chardonnay – all precision, flint and saline drive, sourced from a tightly defined coastal site that gives incredible tension and line in the glass. This 2024 Domaine Naturaliste Purus Chardonnay shows pure white‑fruited power without excess weight, a whip‑crack of acidity and beautifully judged oak for drinkers who love their Chardonnay taut and mineral.

Aromatically it’s very pure – white pear, green apple, grapefruit and lime zest with jasmine, wet granite, crushed stone and a touch of struck match and oyster shell. The palate is tightly coiled and chalky, carved from grapefruit pith, white nectarine and lemon pith, with hints of hazelnut and almond meal riding a sizzling acid line thanks to blocked malolactic. It’s mineral, focused and incredibly long, built more for energy and persistence than easy, creamy charm.

At the table, Purus is a dream with lobster, scallops, grilled fish, roast chicken or veal in light butter or cream sauces, where that saline, citrus edge cuts through richness. It will also shine with sashimi, kingfish crudo, tempura prawns or a refined cheese course built around subtle, nutty cow’s milk cheeses. Drink it over the next decade – it will only gain more nutty, flinty complexity while holding its crystalline core.
