Domaine Georges Vernay Fleurs de Mai IGP Collines Rhodaniennes Syrah 2021, from Christine Vernay in the Northern Rhône, is a compelling example of old-vine Syrah. Grown on vines averaging ~40-50 years on the plateau bordering Condrieu, this wine displays deep red and blue fruit: black cherry, plum and wild berry, interwoven with green pepper, violet blossom and warm spice. The structure is elegant yet firm, with supple tannins, lively acidity and minerality echoing crushed stone – fresh and persistent through the finish. Scored 92 points by Wine Spectator for its precision and energy. A beautifully balanced Syrah for roast meats or charcuterie boards.
