Chatto Seven Inch Pinot Noir 2024 from a tiny beachside vineyard near Glaziers Bay is a sumptuous, fuller–flavoured Tassie pinot, marrying rich, red–fruited charm with sneaky underlying power. This Chatto Seven Inch Pinot Noir 2024 draws on four clones (115, G5V15, D5V12, 8104) to deliver velvet–like tannins and chiselled, coastal fruit in the glass.
Expect exotic spice, dried flowers and juicy red cherry up front, with raspberry, strawberry, red liquorice and pomegranate joined by darker fruits, smoked–meat notes, negroni/bitter orange, Chinese barbecue spice, meadow flowers, forest floor and subtle dried herbs. The palate is fresh, juicy and moreish, bursting with red cherry, strawberry, raspberry and red liquorice over savoury forest floor and spicy cedar, with firm yet supple, velvet–like tannins carrying flavour that builds and deepens through a long, driven finish. It’s lithe yet powerful, a Glaziers Bay single–vineyard pinot that balances generosity, structure and serious complexity.
On the table, Seven Inch 2024 is superb with roast duck, char siu pork, Chinese barbecue meats or miso–glazed salmon, where its spice, red fruits and tannin really sing. It’s also brilliant with mushroom risotto, herb–roasted chicken, aged cheddar or a charcuterie spread, making it a go–to bottle when you want a more structured, flavour–packed Tasmanian pinot on the table.
