Château La Nerthe Cuvée des Cadettes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2017, from winemakers under Rémi Jean in the Rhône Valley, is a sublime showcase from La Nerthe’s oldest vines. This Grenache-Syrah-Mourvèdre co-fermentation delivers rich black cherry, boysenberry and plum framed by dark spice, leather and subtle walnut skin. Full-bodied with muscular tannins yet polished texture, it reveals energetic acidity and underlying minerality that adds poise. With ~96 points from James Suckling, 95 from Vinous and Wine Enthusiast, it is drinking beautifully now but promises to cellar through 2035-2040. Superb with game or slow roast lamb.
