Château de Meursault Volnay Clos des Chênes 1er Cru 2022 is a deeply coloured, high‑altitude Volnay that marries power, perfume and finely etched structure in a very serious Pinot Noir. From 45‑year‑old vines on limestone‑rich marne at around 270 metres, it shows the depth and longevity Clos des Chênes is famous for while still feeling bright and defined.

Aromatically, it is rich and complex, with violets, dark cherry, plum, earth and a touch of exotic tea and spice pouring from the glass. The palate is concentrated, pure and long, driven by intense raspberries and dark fruits over a cool, mineral spine, with fresh acidity and persistent tannins that are present but refined. It is tightly wound now, but the underlying flesh and structure point clearly to a long, graceful evolution in bottle.

This Volnay Clos des Chênes 1er Cru 2022 is made for roast duck, lamb rack, game bird or mushroom‑rich dishes, where its depth, perfume and tannin can really flex. It will also shine with truffled chicken, chargrilled vegetables or aged hard cheeses, and is best cellared a few years or given a long decant if you are opening it young.
