Château de Meursault Pommard Clos des Epenots 1er Cru 2022 is a powerful yet polished Pinot Noir, showing all the muscle of Pommard with the estate’s trademark finesse and clarity. Drawn from five plots (planted 1948–1978) in this famed, warm, well‑drained clos at the foot of the slope, it is built for long ageing but already incredibly impressive in youth.

The nose opens with deep ruby colour and concentrated red and black fruits – juicy cherry, raspberry coulis, wild blackberry and blueberry – layered with violets, subtle mint, dried rosemary, vanilla, liquorice and fine spice. The palate is lively and velvety, harmoniously combining texture, power and balance: ripe black and red fruits, gentle oak sweetness and earthy undertones wrapped in firm, refined tannins and vibrant acidity that drive a long, structured finish. It is dense and expressive, yet precise rather than rustic.

This Clos des Epenots 1er Cru 2022 is superb with roast lamb, duck, venison or beef rib, and works beautifully with mushroom‑rich dishes or game birds, where its depth and tannin can truly shine. It is also excellent with aged hard cheeses; serve around 16–18 °C and allow a long decant or, ideally, cellar for a decade to see it at full maturity.
