Greywacke Riesling 2023 by Kevin Judd from Marlborough is a succulent, off‑dry riesling with purity, tension and loads of flavour – a seriously classy, modern Kiwi riesling. This Greywacke Riesling 2023 opens with bright nectarine, citrus and coriander flowers, layered over honeydew, Pink Lady apple, beeswax, clover honey and a subtle thread of anise and makrut lime leaf.

On the palate it explodes with sweet‑edged exotic fruit – melon, passionfruit, preserved lemon and juicy apple – wrapped in driving acidity, schist‑riverbed minerality and fine phenolic grip. It’s medium‑dry, noticeably sweet but held tightly in check, giving a generous, full‑bodied feel with a lingering, off‑dry finish and real precision for drinking now to around 2031–2033.

I’d be pouring this with chilli–salt prawns, spicy Asian salads, pork belly with apple, rich pâtés, or soft, creamy cheeses. It’s a blockbuster style of Marlborough riesling that’ll absolutely wow dinner‑party guests and still age gracefully in the cellar.
