Bodegas Valdemar Conde Valdemar Gran Reserva from Bodegas Valdemar in Rioja is a majestic, age-worthy Spanish red that captivates with depth, refinement and beautifully integrated complexity, and this Conde Valdemar Gran Reserva 2012 immediately draws you in with its elegant structure, layered aromatics and sense of place. It is a wine made for celebration and slow savouring.
The nose reveals ripe black cherry, plum and fig with savoury leather, cedar and tobacco, while the palate is medium to full bodied with silky, refined tannins, vibrant acidity and a persistent finish that carries hints of spice, dried herbs and forest floor. This Gran Reserva is all about harmony, persistence and poise.
It pairs superbly with slow-roasted lamb, braised beef, aged Manchego or rich tomato stews, and it also works beautifully with charcuterie and hearty tapas. Decant if you can and enjoy how it evolves in glass.
