About this product
Fontanabianca Barbera d’Alba Superiore 2023 is a vibrant, generous Piedmont red from Fontanabianca, showing exactly why Barbera is one of Italy’s great food wines. Made from mature vines and matured in both large and small oak barrels, it brings ripe dark fruit, savoury spice and bright natural acidity together in a seriously satisfying glass.
Ripe plum, black cherry and peach lead the aromatics, joined by blackberry, black olive, sweet spice and a subtle limestone mineral note. Fontanabianca Barbera d’Alba Superiore 2023 is rich and juicy, with supple tannins, generous fruit weight and fresh acidity that keeps the palate lifted. Oak adds gentle spice, not heaviness, through a long mineral finish.
This Italian Barbera is made for slow-cooked beef ragù, lasagne, wood-fired pizza, grilled sausages or a classic roast. Its lively acidity also makes it brilliant with tomato-based pasta, pork shoulder, braised chicken and aged cheeses. Give it a quick decant, serve just below room temperature and let it take care of dinner.
