Pepper Tree Single Vineyard “Pump Shed” Chardonnay 2022 is produced by winemaker Gwyn Olsen from the Bernard 76 clone vines in Wrattonbully, South Australia. The very small crop of the vintage lends concentrated aromas of white peach, nectarine and subtle toasted almond. On the palate it’s creamy and generous, yet balanced by fine acidity that gives clarity and poise. Minerality whispers in the background – wet stone and chalk lending a fine ligneous thread. James Halliday awarded it 96 points, while Campbell Mattinson gave the 2023 sibling 93 for its flavour depth and lingering finish.
