Notes of pepper, red fruits and pomegranate burst from this Silent Way Shiraz Malbec 2022, a super fragrant blend crafted by Matt Harrop from mature vines at Glenhope in the northern Macedon Ranges at 550 metres elevation. Inspired by Birk’s legendary Wendouree Cab/Malbec, this small-batch beauty shows excellent bright red colour with a positive deep hue. Harrop’s winemaking approach preserves all the fruit character and natural purity, resulting in a more serious style than light confectionary wines.

The palate delivers immediate power with intense ripe black fruits, pomegranate, cassis and ripe cherry mingling with typical central Victorian spice and earthy complexity. Fine tannins add length and structure while keeping the wine supple and drinking beautifully, with juicy perfectly ripe blackcurrant and plump dark berries tempered by a leafy edge. This Silent Way blend expresses the ancient Macedon soils and cool-climate character in every sip.
