Lost Penny 1891 Penny Shiraz 2020 from Ebenezer in the northern Barossa Valley is a powerhouse single‑site Shiraz drawn from old vines, built for lovers of rich, classic Barossa reds. In the glass it shows deep, dark colour and immediately throws out aromas of blackberry jam, dark cherry, rich chocolate and sweet vanilla‑spice, all wrapped in toasty oak.

The palate is full bodied, mouth filling and high impact at around 15 percent alcohol, with dense, jammy black fruits, dark chocolate and a hint of spice driving through a long, plush finish. Tannins are ripe and enveloping rather than harsh, giving a velvety feel that makes this a natural candidate for slow sipping or a few hours in a decanter, and it will happily cellar for a decade or more.

This 1891 Penny Shiraz is made for braised beef cheeks, slow roast lamb shoulder, rich ragù or a serious steak, where its depth of fruit, chocolatey richness and oak spice can really lock in with hearty, savoury flavours on the plate.
