Le Macchiole Paleo Rosso Cabernet Franc 2020 from Bolgheri is a powerful, pure‑Cabernet‑Franc icon, saturated with blackcurrant, blackberry and dark cherry, layered with graphite, pepper, tobacco, herbs and a cool, coastal freshness that screams serious, age‑worthy Tuscan red. On the palate Le Macchiole Paleo Rosso 2020 is full‑bodied, dense and polished, with silky but firm tannins, vibrant acidity and flashes of violet, blood orange and dark chocolate that drive a long, savoury, spicy finish.
This is built for bistecca, rib‑eye, slow‑braised beef, venison and lamb racks, where its structure and depth really flex, and it’s outstanding with truffled mushroom dishes or aged hard cheeses after a long decant. Paleo 2020 deserves time in the cellar, but with air it already shows the generosity and precision that make it one of Italy’s benchmark Cabernet Francs.
Yields sit under one kilo per vine, with fruit from vineyards like Casa Nuova and Vignone, fermented in concrete then aged about 18–19 months in French oak (plus a small amphora component) for power and finesse. Critics place Paleo Rosso 2020 firmly in the mid‑ to high‑90s, highlighting its balance, spice‑laden complexity and long‑haul ageing potential through 2040 and beyond.
