Frogmore Creek FGR Riesling 2022 from southern Tasmania is a gently medium–sweet, low–alcohol riesling that nails that German Kabinett vibe – fragrant, juicy and seriously refreshing. “FGR” stands for Forty Grams Residual, a nod to the roughly forty grams of natural grape sugar per litre that give this wine its lush, off–dry feel.

Aromatically it’s very floral – honeysuckle, lemon blossom and white flowers – backed by sweet pear, lime, citrus sorbet, golden kiwifruit and gentle tropicals. The palate is lively and fruit–driven with lime, lemon, sweet pear and subtle tropical notes wrapped in a sweet, silky texture that’s perfectly balanced by fresh, crisp acidity, finishing clean rather than cloying. At around 10–11% alcohol it’s vibrant now and has the structure to age a decade or more, developing more honeyed, toasty notes over time.
