Allevare Wines South Gippsland Sauvignon Blanc 2023 from the Bass River vineyard is a cool, coastal‑influenced white that puts texture and detail ahead of loud tropicals, giving a more grown‑up, food‑ready take on the variety. This Allevare Gippsland Sauvignon Blanc 2023 is barrel‑fermented, whole‑bunch pressed and aged in old French oak puncheons for around nine months on full lees, bringing savoury depth and softness without obvious oak flavour. It feels more like clever white Bordeaux or Semillon‑Sauv than classic Kiwi Sav, with a real sense of site and intent.
In the glass, expect nettles, herbs and blackcurrant leaf alongside green orchard fruits, grapefruit and a subtle lanolin, almost waxy twist through the finish.
