Lost Penny Almond Row Shiraz 2020 from Ebenezer in the northern Barossa Valley is a vibrant, single‑block Shiraz matured for 18 months in French oak, offering a slightly more lifted, approachable take than the 1891 Penny while still very much in classic Barossa territory. In the glass it shows vibrant crimson colour with aromas of doris plum, black cherry and blackberry, laced with subtle fruitcake spice.

The palate is full bodied but bright, packed with black and red fruits, plum and cherry wrapped around fine, mouth‑coating tannins and well‑integrated oak that adds baking spice and a touch of chocolate without weighing it down. There is power and depth, yet also freshness and line, making it a great candidate for drinking now with a decant or cellaring comfortably for close to a decade.

Almond Row Shiraz 2020 is tailor made for slow roast lamb, sticky beef ribs, rich sausages or a winter beef and mushroom pie, where its mix of dark fruits, spice and velvety tannins really locks in with hearty, savoury dishes. It is a seriously flavoursome Barossa red at a more accessible price point than the flagship.
