Topper’s Mountain Nebbiolo 2023 (6 Bottles) New England, NSW
About this product
Topper’s Mountain Nebbiolo 2023 from New England in northern NSW is a bright, savoury take on this famously tannic Italian variety, grown at altitude on volcanic soils that give the wine real lift and spice. This Topper’s Mountain Nebbiolo 2023 “Finder” bottling shows the estate’s knack for alternative varieties in a cooler Australian climate.
In the glass it’s a pale to medium ruby, more in the Pinot spectrum than dense Barolo colour, with lifted aromas of rose petal, red cherry, raspberry and redcurrant over hints of anise, dried herbs and earthy spice. The palate is spicy and bright, with crunchy red fruits, orange rind, subtle tobacco and savoury notes carried by firm but fine, very “Nebbiolo” tannins and fresh acidity, finishing long, dry and gently bitter for excellent food cut.
Topper’s Mountain Nebbiolo 2023 is tailor‑made for the table – think porchetta, duck, game birds, mushroom risotto, truffled pasta or aged hard cheeses where those tannins and acidity can really get to work. It’s also a cracking option if you’re exploring Australian nebbiolo online and want something that leans into perfume, spice and structure without the weight of a big Barolo.
