Atze’s Corner The Mob Montepulciano 2022 (6 Bottles) Barossa Valley, SA
About this product
Atze’s Corner The Mob Montepulciano 2022 is a rare and limited-edition wine from the Barossa Valley family-owned estate, made from a small, resilient vineyard patch with vines planted in 2009 on ironstone and red clay soils. This single-vineyard Montepulciano was crafted following a vineyard ordeal involving sheep damage; the vines recovered to produce exceptional fruit. The wine displays a deep, dark purple hue with intense aromas of candied dark fruits, cracked pepper, and mocha. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied with silky, savory tannins framing flavors of blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries. It was aged for 18 months in third and fourth fill French oak hogsheads, which impart subtle oak nuance while allowing the fruit to shine. The wine pairs beautifully with umami-rich foods like rack of lamb and mushroom risotto. Limited to just 150 dozen bottles, it is priced around $35 AUD, ready to enjoy now and cellaring well to 2035.
