Lowe Wines Block 5 Shiraz 2022 from Lowe Family Wine Co in Mudgee is a big, unapologetic organic and biodynamic Shiraz – classic Mudgee power with depth, spice and serious ageing potential.

Lowe Block 5 Shiraz 2022 continues the style of earlier vintages: very dark in colour with a slight purple hue, thick in the glass and packed with dark berry fruit. Expect blackberry, plum and licorice alongside mocha, red berry, buckets of oak, cinnamon and black pepper, all supported by tannin from stem inclusion and extended time in barrel. Fruit is entirely organic and biodynamic, fermented in open concrete fermenters with some stems and then matured in mostly new oak for around two years, giving both structure and a twist of spice.

Food‑wise, Block 5 Shiraz is built for beef and venison – think ribeye, slow‑cooked beef cheeks, venison pie or rich stews – where its full body, dark fruit and oak spice lap up richness. It will also shine with strong hard cheeses and charcuterie, and is extremely youthful in style, with at least 15–20 years of good ageing potential if you like your Shiraz with some bottle development.
