Giant Steps Yarra Valley Syrah Carignan Grenache 2020 is a vibrant, medium–bodied Rhône–inspired blend that takes Yarra syrah and layers in carignan and grenache for spice, lift and sheer drinkability. The fruit comes from Sexton and Tarraford vineyards, wild–fermented with a mix of whole bunches and whole berries, then matured in French oak for about 18 months before bottling unfined and unfiltered.

In the glass you’re looking at bright crimson with aromas of dark cherry, ripe raspberry and plum, laced with pink peppercorns, star anise, dried mountain herbs and a floral top note. The palate is juicy and medium–bodied, offering layers of dark berries and cherries, pepper, spice and a subtle earthy/mineral line, guided by fresh acidity and fine, supple tannins for a savoury, moreish finish. It’s made to drink young, slightly chilled if you like, but has the stuffing to improve over the next four to five years.
