Château Dutruch Grand Poujeaux Moulis‑en‑Médoc 2016 is a classic cru bourgeois from the Grand Poujeaux plateau, delivering ripe Médoc fruit, fine structure and real charm from this excellent Bordeaux vintage. A Cabernet‑led Bordeaux blend with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it’s all about savoury depth, freshness and polished tannins rather than sheer power.
Aromas open with cassis, black cherry and red berries lifted by wild herbs, tobacco and a touch of graphite, overlaid with subtle toast, vanilla and cocoa from 12 months in French oak. The palate is medium‑ to full‑bodied and starting to soften, showing generous dark fruit, pepper, licorice and plum wrapped in ripe, persistent tannins and bright, balanced acidity, leading to a long, gently spicy finish. It’s in a lovely drinking window now, with plenty of complexity to unfold over the next decade.
This is a brilliant match for classic Bordeaux fare – grilled or roast beef, lamb, venison, mushroom dishes or a slab of aged hard cheese, where its structure and savoury edge really shine. Château Dutruch Grand Poujeaux 2016 brings serious left‑bank character at a fair price, making it an ideal pick for both home cellars and by‑the‑glass lists looking for authentic Moulis‑en‑Médoc.
