Stonegarden Shiraz

Stonegarden Shiraz 2021 from Ben Radford’s historic Eden Valley vineyard is a superb old-vine Shiraz, combining Barossa depth with the region’s cool-climate spice, natural acidity and effortless grace. Sourced from 1858 and 1940s plantings, it is plush and powerful yet beautifully composed, with serious cellaring potential.

Macerated satsuma plum, blackberry and blackcurrant pastille rise with violet, sage, bay leaf, liquorice, white pepper and smoky charcuterie. Stonegarden Shiraz is full-bodied and concentrated, its dark fruit wrapped in allspice, French-oak polish and fine-grained tannins, before a long mineral finish delivers freshness and poise.

Decant this Eden Valley Shiraz for an hour and serve with chargrilled rib-eye, slow-roasted lamb shoulder, venison pie or smoky barbecue brisket. Its dark-fruit richness handles bold flavours, while peppery spice and lively acidity prevent the wine from becoming heavy. Buy a few bottles for the cellar, too.
