Willunga 100 Grenache Rosé

Willunga 100 Trott Vineyard Blewitt Springs Grenache 2023 is a commanding single-vineyard McLaren Vale Grenache from winemaker Renae Hirsch, drawn from Sue Trott’s dry-grown 1952 bush vines high in Blewitt Springs. It is aromatic, deeply layered and beautifully site-driven, delivering rare old-vine intensity with poise and freshness.

Violets, lavender and sage perfume the glass, layered with dark cherry, redcurrant, wild raspberry, citrus rind, cinnamon and clove. The Willunga 100 2023 Trott Vineyard Grenache builds into a brooding, savoury palate of earthy spice, leather, dried herbs and fine ferrous detail. Tannins are elegant but purposeful, carrying exceptional flavour through a long finish.

Pair this Blewitt Springs Grenache with tea-smoked duck, slow-roasted lamb shoulder, game birds or mushroom and lentil dishes. Its fragrant red fruit and earthy depth flatter aromatic spices and savoury roast flavours, while the firm fine-grained tannins have enough authority for richer meats. Decant for 30 minutes, or cellar with confidence.
