Stanton & Killeen Terra Mãe 2024 is a lively, Portuguese-inspired Rutherglen red from the historic Stanton & Killeen family winery, offering a fragrant, savoury alternative to heavier Australian reds. A blend centred on Tinta Cão, it brings wild berries, fine spice and bright acidity together in a beautifully drinkable, food-first style.
Wild berries, ripe plum and red cherry rise with dried rosemary, floral perfume, earth and subtle oak spice. The palate is medium to full-bodied yet fresh, showing darker black-fruit depth alongside mushroom and undergrowth notes. Fine, supple tannins give the 2024 Stanton & Killeen Terra Mãe a smooth, savoury frame and impressive length.
Pour this Portuguese variety red with grilled lamb skewers, slow-roasted pork, smoky chorizo, mushroom paella or hard cheeses. Its herbal savouriness and bright natural acidity work brilliantly with charred, spice-led dishes, while its plush fruit makes it equally satisfying on its own. An adventurous, dinner-ready Rutherglen red with plenty of polish.
