Hobbs Tango Shiraz Viognier 2021 from the Barossa Ranges is a vibrant, Rhone–inspired red, co–fermented from estate Shiraz and a splash of Viognier to create a deeply coloured, aromatic and seriously classy expression that dances between power and lift.

In the glass, Hobbs Tango Shiraz Viognier 2021 shows deep red to dark maroon colour with a purple rim, giving off floral aromatics, apricot kernel and blossom over ripe raspberries, blackberries, satsuma plum, spice and warm earth. The palate is full–bodied, lush and velvety, layered with black fruits, blue fruits, chocolate and spice, with the Viognier adding a lifted, bergamot–like perfume and a sleek, polished flow through a very long, fine–tannined finish.

For food, this Hobbs Tango 2021 is tailor–made for rich, flavourful dishes – think chargrilled lamb rump, slow–roast pork shoulder, beef short ribs or duck with a dark fruit glaze, where its concentration and spice soak up fat and savour. It’s also superb with hard, aged cheeses and hearty mushroom or game pies, and has the structure to drink beautifully over the next 8–10 years.
