Domaine Naturaliste Floris Chardonnay 2024 from Bruce Dukes in Margaret River is a lively, modern Chardonnay that’s all about finesse – white peach, nectarine and white grapefruit carried on a cool, mineral, chalky frame that feels incredibly moreish in the glass. This Domaine Naturaliste Floris Chardonnay 2024 shows delicate jasmine‑like florals, a light flinty edge and beautifully restrained oak, giving a fine, linear palate with bright acidity and a long, savoury, saline finish.

It tastes of nectarine, white peach, lemon biscuit, grapefruit pith and melon skin, with almond, oatmeal, lemon balm and a gentle nutty complexity from partial malolactic, fortnightly batonnage and time on lees in one‑third new French oak. The texture is quietly creamy yet focused, with dusty, fine detail and tart apple drive that keeps everything feeling crisp and refreshing rather than heavy. It’s an elegant, pretty, floral Chardonnay that drinks well now but will gain savoury, nutty layers over five or so years.

Floris is a terrific match with grilled fish, roast chicken, scallops, creamy vegetable dishes or a classic roast chook with lemon and herbs, where that citrus‑mineral line cuts through richness. It will also sing with kingfish crudo, sushi, soft‑rind cheeses or a simple plate of grilled prawns and seasonal veg, making it a versatile choice for modern Australian food. Serve lightly chilled to let the stone fruit, jasmine florals and chalky, saline edge really shine at the table.
